As physicians and healthcare professionals and administrators, we are committed to improving the health of our patients, families, and communities. Global warming is one of the most significant public health challenges we face today, and we must act now to protect the health and wellbeing of our children and future generations.
- We call upon our Congressional Representatives to enact science-based federal policy that will curb global warming emissions by at least 80% below 1990 levels by 2050;
- We support Governor Richardson's Climate Change Initiative and urge him to enact and implement the recommendations he receives from his Climate Change Advisory Group;
- We call upon the Governor and Advisory Boards, the State Legislature, and the Public Regulatory Commission to foster the development of more efficient vehicles and buildings and to harness our renewable energy resources.
